Robotics / Perception / Autonomy

Haoyu Shen

I am an incoming Ph.D. student in Systems Engineering at Boston University, working on robotic perception, autonomous navigation, and field robotic systems. My recent work focuses on LiDAR-visual dynamic obstacle detection and tracking, GPS-denied UAV autonomy, and reliable robot platforms for real-world deployment.

Lightweight autonomous UAV platform for GPS-denied navigation and obstacle avoidance

Research Focus

Dynamic Perception

LiDAR-visual obstacle detection, tracking, and scene understanding for autonomous robot navigation.

Aerial Autonomy

Planning, localization, and onboard perception for UAVs operating in GPS-denied and cluttered environments.

Field Robotic Systems

Reliable hardware and software integration for UAV, USV, and mobile robot platforms.

Selected Work

Tunnel Inspection Demo

Field deployment of UAV autonomy and dynamic mapping in a real tunnel inspection environment at Fukushima Robot Test Field.
